I think either Time Machine or Thresher should only because Time Machine would rush on offense, but Thresher can also (from the engineer's perspective) call everything out from a defensive POV.

People with excellent shot calling skills are best suited to be team leaders. Snipers and Engineers should typically not be leaders, unless they'd like a different main shot caller, but in my experience, almost all team leaders are also main shot callers.

I can do a thing where my voice is heard and people listen

I also have experience in competitive, but it's mostly 6's lobbies and scrims. Not much for HL.
