Alright, as some of you may know, Asu had given me full permission to re-write the rules of the Jailbreak server. After some time, I had posted my initial changes to Asu, and now he has given me permission to share these rules with the Jailbreak community, to openly discuss, to state what they believe needs adding or removing.

Please post below your view on these new rules, explain why you think they should or should not be added, whether you approve or dis-approve.

Also please bare in mind, these rules may not be to the liking of everyone, it is impossible to please all people all the time.

Obviously, this is a work in progress, and changes shall be made if necessary.

Jailbreak Server Rules

This may be updated without notice. It is your responsibility to check on this once in a while.

Terms & Definitions
Baiting

When a BLU is within melee range of a RED, where the RED is not rebelling, or when a BLU is within a minigame whilst it is also occupied by REDs.
Consequence of baiting;
The baited RED may hit the baiting BLU without consequence provided they are continuing to follow the wardens orders. The baited RED must not chase after the BLU for baiting.
Examples;
If a RED is told to afk freeze in a particular location, and a BLU walks up to the AFK frozen RED, the RED is being baited and so can retaliate by hitting the BLU for as long as they are within melee range.
If a RED is told to go to a location, and a BLU is in the way, when the RED gets within melee range of the BLU he is able to hit the BLU for as long as he is being baited whilst he is still attempting to go to the location specified.

KOS (Kill on Sight)
When the Warden marks a RED as "KoS", the BLU players are to kill the marked RED whenever able.
Examples;
If the Warden tells a RED to AFK freeze and do not do so, that RED is rebelling against the Wardens orders that RED becomes KOS, so all BLU guards must attempt to kill the rebelling RED whenever possible.

Shoulder to Shoulder
This means that the REDs must be close enough together that a BLU can not walk between them. If a BLU can walk between them, they are not counted as shoulder to shoulder.

AFK Freeze / Freezing
Stop anything you are doing stand still.
Anything that nails you on one spot (partner taunts and regular taunts, excluding the Conga) is allowed aside from using any weapons, jumping or crouching.
You may look around, "freelook", or rotate on the spot.
Healing counts as AFK frozen as long as they don't stop for a moment then heal again.
Example;
If a RED is told to rush to an area, then told to AFK freeze whilst running to that area, they must stop running to their original destination, but may regular/partner taunt and freelook if they so desire.

Crouch Walk
You must remain crouched at all times whilst moving to your destination.
"The "Box Trot", "Conga" and "Katotsky Kick" taunts can be considered crouch walking if specified by the Warden."

Taunts
Any non-lethal taunt, except the Conga Taunt, is allowed when REDs are expected to be frozen.
Lethal taunts are always considered rebelling unless Warden states otherwise.

Rebelling/Rebels
A rebel is someone who is KOS. A RED can become a rebel in a number of ways.
Examples;
A RED that is not following Warden's orders or are attacking a non baiting BLU.
Any REDs who cross the security gate or trigger a beep from the security gate on Chretien.
If a RED enters in to armory they are instantly a rebel. (Exception is Hunger Games)
Showing ammunition, regardless of how it was acquired. This however does not apply to the Snipers bow, as he starts with a single arrow. Warden can restrict showing your bow however.
Drawing back the bow is a KOS, whether they fire the arrow or not.
Using secret exits or entrances of any kind, uncovering them however is not considered rebelling.
Sapping or attacking dispensers is equivalent to attacking a BLU, however dispensers also follow the same rules of baiting that BLU Guards do.

FDFD (First Day Free Day)
REDs are free to do anything, but will still become rebels if do any of the examples listed above that make them instantly a Rebel, excluding not listening to the Warden.
Rebels can be killed.
No LR is to be granted.
REDs are rebels if they deal damage to a BLU, there is no Baiting on Freedays.
Last BLU alive must hunt for the remaining REDs on First Day Freeday only, this does not apply to any other day.
REDs are not instantly pardoned upon it turning Freeday.

LR (Last Request)
The last wishes of the last RED
The LR must be done in the same round.
The LR can be any minigames or custom activity explained by the last RED.
Singing is a valid LR but BLU may refuse and RED is to choose another one.
If the RED is to rebel at anytime during the LR stage, they are marked as a rebel.
Admin Commands can be a valid LR, however the Admin must agree and it cannot be any server-wide change such as a map change.
RED may freely modify their LR before it begins.
Double LR:
A Double LR consists of 2 REDs who share the same LR. It is not mandatory, just an alternative.
In order for a double LR to occur the following conditions must be met:
1. The Warden must agree
2. The 2 REDs must agree
3. The shared LR must be the same.
If one or both of the REDs rebel they are BOTH KOS
There is no such thing as baiting during an LR.
An LR must have an ending to it, for example "sit in a corner until you die of bordem" is not valid, because it would be delaying due to there being no proper ending.

Minigame names
They should be referred as what the map calls it.
Be careful as sometimes the name of the game differs from map to map. Example, Sweeper or Wipeout, Jeopardy or Trivia.

Both Teams
The ratio of BLUs to RED must be kept at 1:2.

The server will automatically enforce this.

Avoid talking over Warden
Interrupting or otherwise rendering gameplay impossible.

No microphone while dead
The server will automatically enforce this.

No camping medic room or armory
Do not stay in the Medic room or armory for an extended amount of time.
The warden may not delay the round to kill a rebel in armory or medic unless there is a RED waiting for last request, or two REDs waiting for a double LR. He may allocate BLUs to wait and kill the rebel. Rebels however may wait for a better opportunity to leave the medic or armory.

Friendly fire control
You are not to turn on friendly fire without a valid reason. Only admins have the power to toggle Friendly Fire.

"Common Sense Rule"
When the Warden says "Go to the yellow line" it implies the map's yellow line directly beside the cells, not any yellow line on the map.
This also applies to any other color lines that may be present directly beside/in-front of the cells.
Stating "Medics no healing, Snipers no bows" or any other restrictions means the RED team and only the RED team unless otherwise stated.
If REDs are told to go in to Medic, it means the Infirmary or nearest medical station on the map, not anyone playing the Medic class.
Go to X mini game means the RED door if you are a RED.
This "rule" applies to LR as well.
REDs are not to be killed for crouch walking or rushing when told to do so, before the Warden finishes giving his destination.
"To the death of all BLUs" is implied in a REDs last request, unless they state otherwise.
This "rule" does not mean "use common sense" throughout the entire game, just the above listed examples, otherwise it would be too difficult for REDs to rebel. If it is not listed above, it is not a "Common Sense Rule"

Medical Pyros
Pyros are always allowed to heal anyone if they stole a medi-gun from a Medic.

No Spellbook
You may not use the spellbook with the exception of LR.

BLUs (Also known as Guards)
No freekilling or freehitting

You may not kill or damage REDs without a valid reason.
Area of effect weapons (such as rocket launchers) damaging innocent REDs counts as freehitting.
Using Jarate or airblasting as a Pyro also counts as freehitting and is not allowed.

Audible Microphone
You must have a working and audible microphone in order to join BLU.
You must not speak at a ridiculously high/slow speed to the point that no-one can understand what you are saying.
You must be able to speak English well enough to be understandable.

Renaming
Warden may rename REDs to anything else that isn't purposely meant to be confusing.
You cannot rename REDs to something such as "Beds".
You cannot rename REDs to "Rebels".
You cannot rename "Rebels".
Upon renaming REDs, they are no longer reffered to as REDs or Prisoners. Should they be renamed back to REDs, it implies they are also renamed back to Prisoners too.

Going Warden
You must take the position of Warden if there is no Warden
If you do not wish to be the Warden, stay on RED, as all BLUs must be willing to go Warden.
You can not be the Warden 4 or more times in a row at the start of a round (before cell doors have opened) when there are other BLUs willing to go Warden. This is to prevent Warden hogging.

Warden can not lie to kill
The Warden is not allowed to lie should that lie result in the death, or attempted death of a RED. Lying by saying "I'm a fairy princess in real life" is perfectly fine, because that would not impact the game in any way.
BLUs however are free to lie even if it results in the death of a RED, or even attempt to trick prisoners with fake orders.

Restrictions
Warden can freely restrict Snipers bows and Medics healing.
Warden can only restrict Scouts double jumping and Spies sapping during minigames. (Triple jumping is counted as double jumping, as double jumping is needed to triple jump. Furthermore walking off a ledge then jumping counts as double jumping for the sake of simplicity.

Non-map minigames
Warden must explain any game that is not part of the map. Killing RED without explaining game will count as freekilling.
The only exception is "Simon Says" which must be started with the following phrase;
"Simon says we are playing Simon Says, Simon says I am Simon."
Simon Says must also be ended with the phrase;
"Simon says we are no longer playing Simon Says, Simon says I am no longer Simon."

No declaring freedays
Warden may not declare a freeday. BLUs are not allowed to open cell doors before the Warden gives them permission, if a BLU does so then that BLU is considered to be "declaring a freeday" and will be punished accordingly.

Cell commands
The only command allowed while the cells are still closed is "out of cell rebel" and any instructions upon the cell doors opening such as "upon cell doors opening, crouch walk to the yellow line, AFK freeze upon arrival, Snipers no Bows, Medics no healing." Until the cell doors open, the REDs are free to do whatever they wish within their cells.

No denying of LR
Do what the last REDs last wishes or request, all BLUs must participate unless the LR states otherwise. Killing yourself intentionally to avoid doing the REDs LR is counted as denying.

No re-entering the armory
You are not to re-enter the armory. You may not stand in the doorway to the point that the door can not close. You may however stand close enough to the door to keep opening it.
This also means you can not enter secret passages that lead directly in to the armory. This includes vents, the TARDIS on Minecart etc.
In maps which you do not spawn in armory, the rule is simply to never enter it at all.

No favoritism
You cannot give different prisoner(s) different commands from the rest of the prisoners.
Exceptions includes sending certain REDs to Medic/Infirmary from a freehit or otherwise hurt RED that are not meant to be hurt.

No modifying map minigames
To avoid people making minigames practically impossible, you may not change the rules of a minigame while it is already active. You also can not change how a minigame would normally be played to make it ridiculously difficult.
Examples;
You may not force REDs to stay AFK frozen on their own squares in 9 Square whilst the game is active. If they all wish to stay on the same square, that is their choice.
You can not stop players from jumping in Fall Game unless you state no jumping before the game begins.
You can not force REDs to be crouch walking at all times during Box Game, this would make it too difficult.

BLU may NOT leave the general vicinity of the Warden and REDs
Unless they are chasing a rebeller or are given explicit permission by the warden to leave.
You may be slain for wandering off without a valid reason.

Restricting weapons
REDs may have any weapons out at any time except firearms.
You may restrict healing and the bow.
This means you can not for restrict a Spy holding his Sapper, or a Soldier holding a Concheror.

Inaccessible areas
BLUs are not allowed to hide in an inaccessible area unless it is Hunger Games. If it is Hunger Games you may not intentionally open the doors to let REDs in.

Minigame frequency
You can only play minigames once per round. (Excluding during LR)
Hunger Games may only be played once every three rounds
The moment a minigame has begun, that minigame can not be played again the following round. (Again this doesn't count for during LR.)

No Killing REDs for something that they type in chat or say on mic
Exception is Jeopardy
Example;
Killing a RED because they did not type a "valid minigame" in chat.

Dispenser Killfeed
When a RED destroys a BLU dispenser, it shows what weapon is used. If this weapon is a firearm, then that RED is KOS as proof has been given of ammunition.

The 2 minute rule
This means that all minigames that do not already end on their own, such as fall game, or minigames that rely on patience to wait for a certain amount of REDs to die, such as Sweeper, REDs are to be given 2 minutes minimum to complete the minigame. This is useful for Obby or various Deathrun minigames for example.

The three second "rule"
Less of a rule, but more common sense. All REDs have at least 3 seconds to comply with any given order, so you may not kill someone who is not crouch walking to a location immediately after giving the order. This however does not mean that they can do whatever they want during those 3 seconds, they must still be complying with wardens orders, the previous or the new. Use common sense, as this "rule" may not always apply. For example, being told to afk freeze when in melee range of the BLU they were told to follow, they must do it instantly, not after 3 seconds.
This is to allow those who lag a little, or didn't hear the Warden a chance, and stop people for not complying instantly after the orders are given getting killed.
As stated this "rule" is more common sense, so do not complain if you are killed because you "only got 2 seconds" instead.

Time limits
The Warden may freely issue time limits to various sections of a minigame. These time limits may not be ridiculously short however.
Example;
"All REDs have 30 seconds to complete this next trap in Deathrun" is fine.
"All REDs have 1 second to complete this next trap in Deathrun" is not allowed.

A KOS RED is in a Minigame
BLUs may not intentionally kill the KOS RED with the minigame itself, such as using traps in Deathrun. BLUs may however allow the minigame itself to kill the RED if it was already active.
Example;
A rebel has run in to Fallgame to hide. You may not use Fallgame to intentionally kill the RED.
A rebel is in Fallgame with all the other REDs who were told to be in Fallgame. In this case you may allow the minigame to kill the RED itself by simply playing the game normally with the other REDs. Should the rebel survive the entire minigame, simply kill him upon exiting.
A rebel is running through Death Run. Do not intentionally activate traps to kill him.

Teamkilling BLU
BLU team may not kill eachother under any circumstance, unless it is for an LR.

Do NOT hold open armory door on purpose for REDs to enter
This is considered baiting and defeats the purpose of being a Guard. Holding the door open to kill a rebel is fine, just do not hold it open with the intention of luring or allowing REDs in.

REDs (Also known as Prisoners)
Actively rebel (if rebelling)

You must actively try to rebel if you are rebelling.
Avoid delaying the round. (This is not to say you cannot wait for a better opportunity but you are not allowed to find a room and sit in the a corner for the entirety of the round.)

No snitching
You are not to reveal the locations or names of rebels.

MOD
No teleporting of REDs

You are not to teleport REDs unless they are stuck in an area they are unable to get out of without they themselves dying for certain, such as the "sacrifice door"

Respawning REDs
A RED can be respawned if he was freekilled in the current round or if it is a First day freeday and the cell doors have not been opened.
The RED must be immediately respawned and the BLUs must be informed prior to the respawn. BLUs do not need to be informed for First day Freeday respawns.

Scenario Outline
First round after a map change regardless what triggered it unless an Admin says otherwise

First day Freeday

Cell door opens without any commands from Warden
Freeday

No commands given 30 seconds after round start
Freeday

Last RED alive in a minigame
The RED should be let out with as little risk of death as possible. This is also sometimes known as a "freerun" in which the BLUs will activate all the traps to make it easier for the RED.
The RED can only be teleported out if the minigame has a 100% death rate such as the "Sacrifice Door".
In the absence of a staff member to teleport the remaining RED, members of the BLU team must attempt to reach the end of the course to sacrifice themselves. This is however still known as baiting, so do not be surprised if you are attacked by the RED you are attempting to help.

BLUs are able to be hit whilst the RED is in the minigame
Unless the REDs are told to be AFK frozen, a RED can freely move around inside the minigame. If somehow a RED is still able to reach a BLU who isn't even in the game, that BLU is still regarded as baiting.
You can not break being AFK frozen to attack a BLU who is not inside the minigame however.

A RED gets LR but there is X amount of rebels
The rebels must be killed before the RED gets his/her LR.

BLUs are inside the same minigame as REDs are in.
If a BLU falls in to or otherwise is in a minigame area designated for the RED, they may be attacked without consequences. This is valid regardless of whether the game is active or not.
The RED must be intended to be in and are in that minigame for this to apply (such as the Warden getting people to play 9 square).
RED cannot chase the BLU if they manage to escape the designated area.
Example;
If REDs are told to go in to Fallgame, but a BLU is already in that game, this does not mean you may rush to kill said BLU, you may only attempt to kill that BLU the moment you yourself are in Fallgame with the BLU. The moment the BLU leaves he is not to be chased for baiting.

Minigame chosen as an LR
All BLUs must participate in the same minigame, unless the REDs LR states otherwise. It is optional for the RED to participate. The BLUs shall continue to play this minigame until the death of all BLUs unless otherwise stated or unless that minigame can no longer be played.

Warden has died
The previous command is valid for another 20 seconds.
If there is no new Warden past 20 seconds, it becomes a freeday and the Warden position will be locked.
Example;
If the prisoners are all AFK frozen on the yellow line as stated by the Warden, yet the Warden is suddenly killed, anyone who rushes off the yellow line would still be KOS due to the previous wardens orders still being valid for 20 seconds. If a new Warden takes his position, he must state "previous wardens orders still apply" for the former wardens orders to still be in effect after the 20 seconds.

All remaining REDs are rebelling
All remaining are to be killed and no LR is to be granted.

A RED leaves an active minigame
Unless the Warden stated when the minigame shall be played until, or told the REDs specifically not to leave the Minigame, a RED is free to leave if he desires. It is up to the Warden to state when they will play until, or when they can leave.
Example:
If all REDs are playing 9 square, but they were not told to stay in the minigame or when they shall be playing until, such as "until 3 REDs" then should the opportunity arise, they may leave if they desire.

A RED is told to go to a location, but not told to stay there
If no order was given for the RED to remain in that area, he is free to leave upon reaching his destination.

No detours or delays has not been stated
On this server, this is NOT implied without the warden saying otherwise, so if it is not said, then REDs are free to move around as they wish. Therefore it is advised to always say at the start "no detours or delays applys to all of my orders."

Sending an already injured RED to start a minigame in which they may take damage
This is not allowed, and would be favoritism. The RED is allowed to refuse to play the minigame until he is healed back to full health.

A RED or BLU is continuously mic spamming or talking over the Warden on purpose
If this is the case, an admin should be alerted to take care of the issue. However if there are no staff members available to enforce the rules, the Warden may issue a KOS on the mic spamming RED or allow the RED team to kill the mic spamming BLU. This does not mean you can kill anyone who speaks over the warden unless in extreme circumstances, as the mic spammer would be severely disrupting the game.

A RED has ammunition or has killed a BLU
The warden can issue a pardon in either circumstance, however if pardoned, the RED must immediately hide their ammunition or continue to be KOS.

A RED is told to follow a BLU
This is allowed, however should a RED catch up to the BLU, the BLU would still be considered baiting. To avoid the death of a BLU, it is recommended to tell them to AFK freeze for 3 seconds upon reaching melee range.

Door Glitching
There are three different types of door glitching, two are an instant KOS offence, the other is not. The instantly KOS offence kind of door glitching include when a door closes with you stuck inside it on purpose, so you are completely unable to move, and to an extent avoid dying in the minigame. This is considered glitching the map, and you may be slain if a staff member sees you doing this.
The second type of KOS "door glitching" is by standing on a sliver of a ledge next to a door inside the minigame, once again avoiding death inside the minigame. This is an instant KOS/slayable offence.
However, door glitching by simply standing in the doorway not allowing the door to close, is NOT an instant KOS, unless the warden states otherwise.

Cheating in minigames
Cheating in minigames is not allowed unless the Warden states otherwise. Examples of this are standing on top of dispensers, jumping on to the middle of the sweeper pole or hitting your opponents button in Jeapordy.

Miscellaneous Minigame Information
Jeopardy / Weakest Link

Questions must be related to Team Fortress 2 (In the case of dispute, the answer is whatever https://wiki.teamfortress.com provides.)
Math (Grade 9 level)
English (ex. spelling) (Grade 9 level)
Common knowledge such (ex. State the name of a country that begins with the letter F)

Arena (RED FriendlyFire Fights)
These type of games must be done in the designated arena on each map.
On the map Minecart, the knife pit is allowed however the entire area must be usable. Going up the stairs on knife pit is considered leaving the arena.

Banned Minigames
The minigame is banned on all maps unless specified.
Crush Game (Hop) - Broken
Russian Roulette - Broken
Shock, Drop, and Roll (Map: Casuarina) Extremely difficult, very hard to leave once started.
All “hunter” games - Any games where the BLUs actively seek out to kill RED. Toxic on Chretien is allowed.
These restrictions are lifted for LR. The RED may choose to play any minigame.

Umbra, don't forget to separate first day freeday and freeday into separate categories.

What if a blue closes a door on you? To me that seems unfair. I can see many a BLU using this to kill innocent REDs. May want to reword this a bit.

I like the effort, but I prefer the rules we have before. I feel like this just takes the fun out of Jailbreak. I liked the rules more when I joined last year. Now everything is so strict. This isn't your fault though, it's the people on this community who only want to find loop holes then question why they hate the rules.

Warden can only restrict Scouts double jumping
You already can't do this.
EDIT:Find out what you can't do first then come up with new rules

I agree, that can be re-worded a bit better, though that was not one of my particular rules, according to various admins that is considered "glitching the map."

Beast, you've been salty ever since I called you out for being a badmin. If you're going to vote no, at least provide a constructive reasoning as to why not, and I'll be more than happy to prove you wrong, like the countless other times I have done so before.

Those rules given before, that relied far too much on people living in a perfect world and, like you said, not finding loopholes. Not likely to happen on the internet.
Whilst I can agree that the rules before which more like a dictatorship as one admin had quoted to me, where if someone tried to be a smartass they were just slain, the server is not like that anymore, and I can assure you would not survive if it were like that.
Everyone plays Jailbreak for a variety of different reasons. Some like being a BLU and bossing REDs around, some like being a smartass, others just enjoy being sneaky and rebelling. If we are to cater to the public, we NEED stricter rules, clarifying the cans and can'ts, what is and isn't allowed, to get rid of all this bullshit of one admin saying one thing, one admin saying another, or players fighting about rules all the damn time.
If we wish to keep this community alive, we need fresh players, and to retain older ones, but being too loose in rules to the point it causes so much bullshit arguments is going to do the exact opposite.

The rules I have written in aren't that strict, they simply list how the server is in itself played to this day by the majority of people. I'm not making things strict so they can't rebel, I'm clarifying what does and does not count as rebelling, so someone can turn around and say "It's not in the rules" because now, it will be.

You already can't do this.
EDIT:Find out what you can't do first then come up with new rules

Zero, this has been done so many times before on the server, to say this is a "rule" is laughable. You are welcome to tell me where it currently states in the rules you can not restrict a Scout double jumping.
Sassyness aside, please state "why" you think they should not be allowed to be restricted, instead of instantly opposing changes made.

Keep this thread serious. This is meant to gather some opinions instead of just applying them.
If giving the community a chance to chime in on decisions results in this. Don't expect to have a say in matters in the future.

Ban box game. On All maps, I'm tired of boxes on minecraft glitching in on each other and hitting like 3 people far away from it, I'm tired of boxes being invisable. I'm tired of boxes staying on the ground still instantly killing all who dare touch it.
Do it.

FDFD can we have guns out or still no?
In these rules, no, showing ammunition is considered being a rebel. But you're free to post your thoughts otherwise. I mean most BLUs would should you for holding a gun out anyway on a Freeday.

Looks good umbra, far more clear then the last one good work!
Thank you, although it can do with a little work.

Ha bloody ha, but seriously, please vote and explain your reasons for voting as you do.

I would, but I and many others quite like box game. It's skill and luck rolled in to one, at least it's not as unfair as the floormaze in the newest of maps.

I would like to say though, I am highly disappointed in the amount of "No!" votes. Not so much for the fact they voted no, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion and as stated, these rules will not be to everyone's taste, but what's bothering is me is that people are voting no, without giving an explanation as to why.
The only one who has given a valid reasoning is ThatSameGuyMan, and though I personally believe his idea of having the rules remain loose and not strict is too flawed, at least he explained otherwise.

Why vote no?

Beast, you've been salty ever since I called you out for being a badmin. If you're going to vote no, at least provide a constructive reasoning as to why not, and I'll be more than happy to prove you wrong, like the countless other times I have done so before.
I've stated it in game plenty of times, but you keep ignoring me and bringing up various subjects that we have different oppinons on.

You have stated no such thing as to why you believe the rules should be changed, simply said "I do not believe they should be changed, and will not believe there are ever unwritten rules and will not believe it unless I get visual confirmation from Asu"

So if you wish to give your opinion, please, take the floor, that is what this thread is all about.

Fine meanie
Ha bloody ha, but seriously, please vote and explain your reasons for voting as you do.

Remove the Box Trot counts as crouch walking. Say it is up to the warden, but if Box Trot is allowed, Conga and Katozky are aswell.
